Spanish Sardine Aglio Olio Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 can King Cup Premium Spanish Sardines
  • 180-200g spaghetti
  • 3 tbsp oil from the sardine can or olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/4 cup pasta water
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Parsley, chopped, optional
  • Calamansi or lemon, for finishing

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente.
  2. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water before draining.
  3. Heat sardine oil or olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat.
  4. Add sliced garlic and cook slowly until fragrant and lightly golden.
  5. Add chili flakes.
  6. Add King Cup Premium Spanish Sardines and warm gently.
  7. Add cooked pasta to the pan.
  8. Add a splash of pasta water and toss until the pasta looks glossy.
  9. Season with black pepper.
  10. Finish with parsley and calamansi or lemon.
  11. Serve immediately.
